The Foundations of Osteopathic Care
A simple look at the principles that guide your care, and the team here to support you along the way.
1. Structure and Function
Osteopathy is based on the idea that the body’s structure and function are closely linked. The musculoskeletal system supports the health of other systems. By correcting imbalances in joints, muscles, and connective tissues, we can improve circulation, nerve function, and organ performance. Through hands-on therapy, my goal is to restore alignment and help your body function optimally for overall well-being
2. The Self-Regulatory Mechanism
The body possesses self-regulating mechanism which are self healing in nature. Osteopathy leverages these mechanisms to better your healing journey. Together, I wish to work in partnership with you to help correct any obstruction to your body’s ability to heal.
3. The Body is a Single, Dynamic Unity of Function
Osteopathy views the body as an interconnected, rather than a collection of isolated systems. I take the time to understand your unique story and history, allowing us to work together to address the root causes of your concerns and achieve the well-being you deserve.
4. Rational Treatment
An osteopathic approach involves crafting a personalized treatment and management plan based on these principles. Together, we will explore every aspect of your well-being, working to realign structure and function and activate your body’s inherent healing abilities.
Meet Dr Jim (Osteopath) "....I am forever interested in the body and the mind and I LOVE being an Osteopath"
Hello, I’m Jim.
My lifelong fascination with the connection between body and mind has shaped my journey through yoga, meditation, and, ultimately, osteopathy. Osteopathy resonates deeply with me because it honours the body’s natural capacity to heal while recognising the strong relationship between physical health, emotional wellbeing, and the nervous system. This connection sits at the heart of how I care for people.
Over time, I’ve developed a particular interest in supporting people living with chronic and persistent pain. Many of the people I work with have been in pain for months or years and feel frustrated, misunderstood, or unsure where to turn next. I enjoy helping people make sense of their pain, gently restoring confidence in their bodies, and creating space for the system to feel safe enough to unwind again.
My clinical interests also include supporting mothers and babies, as well as working with the ageing population. I consider myself an all-rounder who loves sport and music, and I bring firsthand understanding from years of labour-intensive work. I know how important a well-functioning body is, especially when physical health is closely tied to work, identity, and providing for family.
Outside the clinic, I value time with my wife and sons, long walks with our dogs, and making music when the household is well rested.
Meet Dr Rusty (Osteopath) Osteopath — BAppSc (Human Anatomy), Master of Osteopathy
Rusty has a strong scientific foundation in anatomy, physiology, and evidence-informed practice. With a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Anatomy and a Master of Osteopathy, he integrates clinical knowledge with a whole-person approach to care.
Since beginning practice in 2017, Rusty has developed a treatment style that blends structural, cranial, and visceral osteopathic techniques. Over time, he has also expanded his skillset to include modalities such as Reiki, breathwork, spinal attunement, hypnotherapy, and NLP & Timeline Therapy®. These complementary approaches allow him to support clients not only structurally, but also through the lens of the nervous system, emotional patterns, and the mind–body connection. While sessions can be gentle or subtle, they remain grounded in anatomy, physiology, and conscious therapeutic intention.
Rusty is committed to continual professional development and reflective practice. He has a particular interest in how the body holds patterns of strain, stress, or emotional protection, and how safe, skilled touch can encourage the system to unwind, reorganise, and return to more efficient function.
Originally from Raglan, New Zealand, Rusty is now based in Melbourne and looks forward to connecting with the local community. Outside of practice, he enjoys staying active, time at the beach, travelling, and discovering new food spots.
Rusty welcomes clients seeking gentle, personalised care—whether to maintain an active lifestyle, recover from injury, or work through longer-term patterns within the body. His clinic is an inclusive space for all, with a particular openness to the LGBTQIA+ community.
